Numbering of chapters[Επεξεργασία]

Hi,

Sorry about writing in English. Unfortunately I don't know Greek.

I'm working on proofreading and formatting Gesenius' Hebrew Grammar in the English Wikisource. It has many links to books of the Bible, mostly to the Hebrew books, but also to some Greek Deuterocanonical and New Testament books. They appear in the Greek Wikisource, so I can link to them, and this is great.

However, the numbering of chapters is inconsistent, and this makes linking inconvenient. Some books, for example Σοφία Σειράχ, use Greek numerals, and the word "Κεφάλαιον" ("Chapter") in every heading. Some books, like Αποκάλυψις Ιωάννου use just Arabic numerals. And Κατά Ιωάννην uses Arabic numerals at the top, but lowercase Greek numerals (α', στ') without the word "Κεφάλαιον" in the headings.

Is there a good reason for this inconsistency? If it's important for the Greek Wikisource to use different numbering for different books, just let me know, and I'll deal it with the template that I use to link to the Bible.

But if you can make the numbering consistent in all the books, it will be great for me because I'll be able to make easier to build templates.

Thanks!

Hi, Amire80. The incosistency is the result of the different online sources from where the texts were taken, and different thoughts of the editors. For example I started using only Arabic numerals, and then changed to Greek numerals when I remembered that most literature use these + HTML 4 did not allow id attibutes to start with a number (allowed in HTML5), but I did not correct the previous imports. I agree we should correct this. What concerns me is that a lot of links will be broken and we should take care at least to repair any direct links from Greek wikipedia.
BTW we have two editions of the Septuagint. The other is the Alfred Rahlfs' critical edition, f.e. Σοφία Σιράχ (Rahlfs) (with roman numerals 😕) - geraki (συζήτηση) 09:59, 26 Σεπτεμβρίου 2018 (UTC)[απάντηση]
Hi geraki, thanks for the reply.
I agree that keeping links working is important. You can probably use {{Anchor}} for backwards compatibility.
... But basically, geraki, if it will be consistent, what will it be? Uppercase Greek number with "Κεφάλαιον"? Just the uppercase Greek number? Lowercase Greek number? Arabic number? Something else?
